Primary Life Support System (PLSS) and Secondary Oxygen Pack (SOP) Regulators

Carleton provides the oxygen system pressure controls for the PLSS and SOP as part of the Space Shuttle Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU). The PLSS regulator controls suit pressure to 4.3 psia during extravehicular activity and to 0.65 psid during intravehicular activity. It also pressurizes the water tanks of the EMU thermal control system. The SOP regulator is used to ventilate the suit at a pressure of 3.7 psi, if the primary pressure control system is disabled.
